Aaliyah Daniel Haughton shot to stardom in 1994 with her album debut Age Ain't Nothing but a Numer. The album came out as Gold in the year she turned fifteen years old. The group's collaboration heavily influenced R. Kelly's musical style, brought her into the spotlight. In 1996, she released her second album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album featured the top-selling track If Your Girl Only was aware. After the success of this album, Aaliyah won international acclaim for her performance as an R&B performer. Aaliyah appeared alongside legendary martial artist Jet-Li in Romeo Must Die (2000) which was an action-packed romance film. Her role came about after being spotted by the film's producer Joel Silver at an awards event. She was in 2002 when she was part of the Anne Rice-based movie about horror Queen of the Damned. However, she is also known as Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. Though she started her career in film and TV with a few minor roles her acting career gained momentum in the mid-2000s. Her other notable projects include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. In addition, she has appeared in advertisements for major companies like the international auto manufacturer Volvo. She is a resident of Los Angeles where she continues to work as an actress.
